Berlin

Vladimirska is returning to Berlin!

On September 9th, we'll play a concert at Kaffee Burger (Torstrasse 60). The show starts at 9 pm.

We'll have a great opening act - our friend Ashia & the Bison Rouge (USA) will perform a set of her beautiful cello + loop pedal songs. We hope to see you there, Berliners!

ABOUT VLADIMIRSKA:

Vladimirska is a band based in Krakow, Poland. It began as the solo project of Canadian singer and accordionist Scotia Gilroy, but since 2010 it has grown into a 6-member band playing guitar, banjo, mandolin, trumpet, saxophone and drums. Focused around Scotia's natural, unique singing style, Vladimirska has developed into an unusual indie folk-pop project tinged with an exotic, carnivalesque spirit.

"I really like this band, because I like groups that do their own thing. Listen and love it, please go buy their album. It’s a bit klezmer, a bit like a backyard circus, really cool."
(Wojtek Waglewski, “Magiel Wagli,” Polish National Radio 3)

"Sometimes joyful, sometimes melancholy ... Vladimirska weaves enchanting motifs and ethereal melodies into nostalgic but carefree, lively songs."
(Jacek Świąder, Gazeta Wyborcza)

"Stylish, old-fashioned and totally distinct from everyone else. They've been complemented by Wojciech Waglewski, they've won awards in international competitions, and they are beyond doubt one of the most interesting newest phenomenons on the Polish music scene."
(Marcin Flint, t-mobile-music.pl)

"Even though their songs are their own compositions, every note seems to come from a faraway time and place."

ABOUT ASHIA & the BISON ROUGE:
Cellist - Songbird - Folk Pop

“Captivating” Portland Mercury
“Absolutely Tremendous!” Capitol Public Radio

Ashia’s solo project songs and compositions, written and sung with the cello, loops, ukulele, vocals reflect her longing for her Slavic roots, while adding the pop, rock, soul, indie folk, and classical of the land she grew up in. This comes naturally from being born in Wroclaw, Poland, raised in the US, and performing internationally. Her belief is to bring and celebrate Polish and Slavic culture and ancestry to new audiences, as well as using the cello, non-traditionally, as an instrument of accompaniment and melodic lead.
Her newest full-length CD ‘Diesel vs Lungs’ is released on the German record label, JARO Median, and independently in North America to much excitement after successfully raising funds to produce it on Kickstarter in 2012.
She is currently performing in the show " Der helle Wahnsinn" at the Wintergarten Variety Berlin.
So, come see her on her night off!!!
