4 czerwca 2016 r., w Sali Operowej odbędzie się wyjątkowy koncert projektu Zbigniew Wodecki with Mitch & Mitch Orchestra and Choir.
Koncert wpisuje się w cykl wydarzeń otwierania Centrum Spotkania Kultur w Lublinie.

Historia tego spotkania jest długa i prosta. Najpierw zupełnie przypadkowo, a potem na specjalne zaproszenie OFF Festivalu, Zbigniew Wodecki i Mitch & Mitch zwarli szyki, by nieść wieść o Świętym Graalu polskiej muzyki rozrywkowej – zapomnianej płycie z roku 1976. Płycie w dużej części wymyślonej, zaaranżowanej i nagranej przez Zbigniewa, ku uciesze jego i grających z nim kolegów oraz ku rażącemu brakowi zainteresowania reszty świata. Hity takie jak "Rzuć to wszystko co złe", "Panny mego dziadka" czy "Posłuchaj mnie spokojnie" nigdy nie stały się hitami, a historia potoczyła się dalej w sposób znany każdemu Polakowi. Całe szczęście, dzięki maniakalnym tendencjom Mitchów oraz propozycji nie do odrzucenia wystosowanej przez Program 2 Polskiego Radia, rozszerzony do 43-osobowej orkiestry skład raz jeszcze pieczołowicie wykonał całą płytę na dwóch, wyprzedanych na pniu, koncertach. Rok po tym wiekopomnym wydarzeniu z ogromną radością przekazujemy w wasze ręce koncertowe stereofoniczne CD z dołączonym DVD.

Opis wystawy:

Sebastião Salgado – brazylijski mistrz fotografii, ceniony w świecie za swoje czarno-białe zdjęcia przyrody ożywionej i nieożywionej, monumentalne cykle dokumentujące życie społeczne oraz naturę. W związku ze swoimi projektami fotograficznymi odbył ponad 100 podróży. Wystawy jego prac, których kuratorką jest Lélia Wanick Salgado, prezentowane są na całym świecie.

W 2004 roku Sebastião Salgado rozpoczął pracę nad cyklem „Genesis”, mającym na celu pokazanie natury i ludzkości w perspektywie tego, co pierwotne i nieskalane. „Genesis” składa się z serii fotografii krajobrazów i przyrody, jak również społeczności ludzkich nadal żyjących w oparciu o dawne tradycje swoich przodków.

„Genesis” to fotograficzna podróż w głąb planety – ekspedycja, by na nowo odkryć góry, pustynie i oceany, zwierzęta i ludy, którym udało się – jak dotąd – uciec przed wpływem współczesności. Ziemie i życie wciąż jeszcze nieskalanej planety. Jednocześnie „Genesis” to projekt, który zwraca uwagę na czasy obecne. Prezentując zapierające dech w piersiach piękno „zaginionego” świata, któremu cudem udało się przetrwać, artysta pokazuje to, co jest zagrożone i wskazuje na to, co wspólnie musimy uratować.

W ramach polskiej premiery wystawy, pokazana zostanie jej pełna wersja, zawierająca aż 244 fotografie, zaprezentowane w specjalnie zaaranżowanej przestrzeni Centrum Spotkania Kultur w Lublinie.

4 June 2016 will see the unprecedented live meeting of Zbigniew Wodecki with Mitch & Mitch Orchestra and Choir in Lublin!

The concert is part of the series of events opening the Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin.

The history behind the meeting is long and un-winding. A chance meeting followed up by a purposeful invitation to headline the Katowice-based OFF Festival offered Zbigniew Wodecki and Mitch & Mitch a chance to team up and spread the word about the Holy Grail of Polish pop music – a long-forgotten and an almost lost album recorded way back in 1976. To a large extent, conceived of, arranged and recorded by Zbigniew to his and his fellow musicians’ satisfaction and despite glaring lack of interest and no enthusiasm at all on the part of the rest of the world. Hits such as "Rzuć to wszystko co złe", "Panny mego dziadka" or "Posłuchaj mnie spokojnie" never turned gold and the history conveniently marched on – a popcultural narrative known to every Pole.

Thankfully, due to the maniacal tendencies of the Mitches and the not-to-be-taken-lightly proposal issued by Polish Radio 2, the ensemble – this time around expanded into a 43-piece orchestra – once again painstakingly performed live their vintage record during two sold-out gigs. A year after this momentous event, a live stereo CD (with a bonus DVD) was released.

In April the act was awarded two Fryderyk Prizes:

About the exhibition:

Sebastião Salgado – Brazilian master photographer, renowned internationally for his black and white portraits of landscape, wildlife and humans, epic cycles that document the social and natural life. He has travelled in over 100 countries for his photographic projects. Curated by Lélia Wanick Salgado, touring exhibitions of this work have been, and continue to be, presented throughout the world.

In 2004, Sebastião Salgado began a project named Genesis, aiming at the presentation of the unblemished faces of nature and humanity. It consists of a series of photographs of landscapes and wildlife, as well as of human communities that continue to live in accordance with their ancestral traditions and cultures.

“Genesis” is a photographic journey into the planet – an expedition to rediscover the mountains, deserts and oceans, the animals and peoples that have so far escaped the imprint of modern society. The land and life of a still pristine planet. Yet “Genesis” is also a project that speaks urgently to our own age. By portraying the breathtaking beauty of a “lost” world that somehow survives, it proclaims: this is what is in peril; this is what we must save.
