Tomatito pochodzi z cygańskiej rodziny z tradycjami muzycznymi. Większość życia spędził z żoną, dziećmi i swoimi końmi w jednej z najbiedniejszych dzielnic Almerii. Tam, gdzie jest szczerość, sztuka emanuje z jaźni, a Tomatito gra muzykę Jego Andaluzji, z prawdziwą cygańską energią, z ogromnym uczuciem, rytmiczną furią i wolnym duchem. W wieku zaledwie piętnastu lat poznał Camaróna de la Islę, największego cantora wszech czasów. Razem stworzyli legendarny duet, który osiągnął sukces wraz z wydaniem albumu La Leyenda del Tiempo. "To, kim jestem dzisiaj, zawdzięczam jemu, całkowicie jemu" - twierdzi Tomatito, ale José Fernández Torres, bo tak naprawdę brzmi jego nazwisko, nie tylko reprezentuje wpływy Camarona, lecz wykształcił własny styl, typowy dla Tomatito - charyzmatycznego, poważnego człowieka, całkowicie oddanego sztuce flamenco, który stroni od pokus sławy i komercyjnych ekscesów.

Sposób gry José podkreśla istotę każdego z palos (ze stylów rytmicznych), czyli samą istotę flamenco. Teraz możecie usłyszeć efekt trwających dwie dekady muzycznych przygód. Jest też dużo więcej. Tomatito użył nowych gitar i nowych struktur melodycznych, aby dalej rozwijać swój styl. Pojawiają się one w jego Bulerías, Tarantas, Soleares i Rumbas. Tomatito od lat romansuje z jazzem, muzyką brazylijską czy kubańską. Wirtuoz wnosił swój styl do twórczości artystów takich, jak Frank Sinatra, Elton John, John McLaughlin, Mecano czy Larry Corryel. Nigdy jednak nie odbiegał zbytnio od muzyki, która płynie w jego żyłach. Za muzykę do filmu Tony'ego Gatlifa "Vengo" dostał nagrodę Cezara. Otrzymał też łącznie pięć nagród Grammy (jedną z Michel Camilo) i Latin Grammy za albumy "Aguadulce" i "Soy Flamenco".

Tomatito - one of the greatest flamenco guitarists in history, mentioned in the same breath alongside such legends as Paco de Lucia and Vicente Amigo, will play a concert tour in Poland in April 2024: April 4 at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw and April 6 at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław. The musician will perform in a sextet, there will also be a treat for fans of flamenco dance! This is not to be missed!

Tomatito comes from a Gypsy family with musical traditions. He spent most of his life with his wife, children and his horses in one of the poorest districts of Almería. Where there is sincerity, art emanates from the self, and Tomatito plays the music of His Andalusia, with real gypsy energy, with great feeling, rhythmic fury and a free spirit. At just fifteen, he met Camarón de la Isla, the greatest cantor of all time. Together, they created a legendary duo that achieved success with the release of the album La Leyenda del Tiempo. "What I am today, I owe to him, completely to him," says Tomatito, but José Fernández Torres, because that's really his name, not only represents Camaron's influence, but has developed his own style, typical of Tomatito - a charismatic, serious man, completely devoted to the art of flamenco, who shuns the temptations of fame and commercial excesses.

José's way of playing emphasizes the essence of each of the palos (rhythmic styles), which is the very essence of flamenco. Now you can hear the effect of two decades of musical adventures. There is also much more. Tomatito used new guitars and new melodic structures to further develop his style. They appear in his Bulerías, Tarantas, Soleares and Rumbas. Tomatito has been romancing jazz, Brazilian and Cuban music for years. The virtuoso brought his style to the work of artists such as Frank Sinatra, Elton John, John McLaughlin, Mecano and Larry Corryel. However, he never strayed too far from the music that flows in his veins. He received a César Award for the music to Tony Gatlif's Vengo. He also received a total of five Grammy Awards (one with Michel Camilo) and a Latin Grammy for the albums "Aguadulce" and "Soy Flamenco".
