Przez dwa dni stolica Dolnego Śląska będzie drżeć od potężnych basów! 3 i 4 listopada pod dachem Wrocławskiego Centrum Kongresowego będzie królować dub we wszystkich, nawet najbardziej niespodziewanych odsłonach. Na scenie pojawią się połączone siły Alpha Steppa i Alpha & Omega, czyli Dub Dynasty, legendarny kolektyw z Leicester, który od ponad 20 lat trzęsie sceną UK Dub – Vibronics, The Bush Chemists, jedna z najważniejszych formacji dubowych w Wielkiej Brytanii, ojciec brytyjskiego dubu Aba Shanti-I, bristolska załoga Dubkasm, mistrz konsolety Adrian Sherwood oraz guru brytyjskiej sceny dubowej Mad Professor! Nie zabraknie również polskich wykonawców – zagrają weterani z Roots Revival Sound System, najbardziej rozpoznawalny współczesny polski twórca dubu na międzynarodowej scenie – Radikal Guru, który zagra na żywo wraz z Radikal Horns, niezwykle utalentowany Violinbwoy i wrocławski projekt Positive Thursdays In Dub! Independent Dub Day to największy halowy festiwal muzyki dub w naszej części Europy! W listopadzie we Wrocławskim Centrum Kongresowym może wydarzyć się wszystko - kosmiczny bas zagnie czasoprzestrzeń! Tym razem dzień wydłuży się do 48 godzin, podczas których obok legend europejskiej sceny dubowej wystąpią wykonawcy prezentujący hipernowoczesne oblicze gatunku, który zawsze słynął z przełamywania schematów. Z fascynującym światem dubu, jednego z najważniejszych i najbardziej otwartych na eksperymenty gatunków muzycznych, można się na ogół zetknąć w niszowych klubach albo na sound systemowych scenach, towarzyszących plenerowym festiwalom reggae. Independent Dub Day to ostateczny dowód na to, że dub jest zjawiskiem zasługującym na pełnowymiarowy halowy festiwal muzyczny. To impreza naprawdę radykalna, w najlepszym tego słowa znaczeniu!

Największe święto dubu w Polsce wymaga odpowiedniej oprawy. Festiwalowi goście będą mogli odzyskać siły w strefie foodtrucków oraz napić się najlepszego piwa dzięki lokalnym wytwórcom i niszowym browarom. Stoiska z nagraniami przypomną o pionierskim okresie muzyki dub, kiedy to winylowe wydania stawały się rarytasami błyskawicznie po wydaniu. A to nie koniec festiwalowych niespodzianek!

ABA SHANTI-I

Legendarny prekursor muzyki roots i dub w Wielkiej Brytanii. Już jako nastolatek współpracował ze słynnym soundsystemem Jah Tubby’s pod pseudonimem Jasmin Joe. Zadebiutował w 1990 roku ze swoim sound systemem The Mighty Aba Shanti-I i zaledwie trzy lata później DJ Magazine uznał go za najlepszego DJa na świecie. Jest właścicielem wytwórni Falasha Records, w której od lat wydaje swoje produkcje z udziałem swoich braci i zespołu The Shanti-Ites. Jego sety to przeszywający ludzkie ciało bas, niepowtarzalne wibracje, feeling i duchowy mistycyzm. Aba Shanti-I jest stałym rezydentem kultowych sesji University of Dub na które ściągają fani dubu z całego świata, a także innych wielkich dubowych imprez w UK. W 2010 roku był jednym z wykładowców Red Bull Music Academy.

ADRIAN SHERWOOD

Mistrz konsolety, król producentów i żywa legenda muzyki reggae i dub. Słynie z niespotykanych umiejętności miksowania muzyki na żywo. Pierwsze kroki w roli didżeja stawiał jako nastolatek w latach 70. Szybko odkrył dla siebie jamajską muzykę, a jego mistrzem i opiekunem został sam Prince Far I. Na przełomie lat 70. i 80. uczestniczył w punkowej rewolcie, koncertując m.in. z The Clash. W tym samym czasie założył własną, kultową dziś wytwórnię On-U Sound. Jako producent współpracował z wykonawcami prezentującymi najróżniejsze style i gatunki muzyczne (m.in. Ministry, Primal Scream, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Simply Red, Sinead O’Connor, Einstürzende Neubauten, Coldcut). Jego najbardziej znanym wydawnictwem jest płyta "Never Trust A Hippie”, nagrana dla wytwórni Petera Gabriela.

THE BUSH CHEMISTS
(CHAZBO, CULTURE FREEMAN, DOUGIE CONSCIOUS)

Jedna z najważniejszych formacji dubowych w Wielkiej Brytanii, którą w 1993 roku powołali do życia Dougie Wardrop (Dougie Conscious), Paul Davey (Chazbo) i wokalista Culture Freeman jako poboczny projekt grupy Centry. Debiutowali rok później albumem „Dubs from Zion Valley” nagranym razem z Jonahem Danem, ale prawdziwą sławę przyniosły im wydane w 1996 roku płyty „Dub Outernational” i „Light Up Your Spliff”, które szybko na stałe zapisały się jako klasyki gatunku. Współpracowali z czołówką brytyjskich wokalistów reggae (Kenny Knots, King General, Pablo Gad). Słyną zarówno z finezyjnego miksowania tradycyjnego reggae z głębokim, cyfrowym dubem, jak i z muzycznej wyobraźni i otwartości na inne gatunki. Ich dubowa wersja motywu z „Gwiezdnych Wojen” na zawsze zapisała się w historii tej muzyki.

DUB DYNASTY

Unikatowy, rodzinny projekt, który młody, piekielnie utalentowany producent Alpha Steppa założył wraz ze swoim ojcem Johnem Sprosenem i ciotką Christine Woodbridge, znanymi lepiej jako Alpha & Omega - duet od lat 80. współtworzący brytyjską scenę dubową. Muzyka Dub Dynasty to zabójcze połączenie ogromnego doświadczenia i świeżej krwi. John i Christine wyrośli z tradycji reprezentowanej przez jamajskich klasyków - Kinga Tubby’ego, Augustusa Pablo i Lee „Scratch” Perry’ego. Alpha Steppa to przedstawiciel pokolenia, które wychowało się w cyfrowym świecie. Wspólnie wydali trzy znakomite, rootsowe albumy - „Unrelenting Force”, „Thundering Mantis” i „Holy Cow”.

DUBKASM

Dubkasm to jedni z najważniejszych przedstawicieli międzynarodowego ruchu Roots & Dub. Ich znakiem rozpoznawczym są ciężkie linie basu, żywe instrumenty i świetne wokale. DJ Stryda i Digistep założyli Dubkasm w 1994 roku i wywarli ogromny wpływ na rozwój brytyjskiego brzmienia digital dub. Od ponad dwudziestu lat współpracują z najlepszymi soundsystemami na całym świecie, występując regularnie zarówno na największych festiwalach muzycznych, jak i w kultowych klubach. Słyną ze znakomitych nagrań (m.in. legendarne wydawnictwo „Warrior”, 7-calowy killer „From the Foundation” czy hiper przebój "Victory") i doskonałego doboru wokalistów (m.in. Solo Banton, Afrikan Simba i Rudey Lee).

MAD PROFESSOR & JOE ARIWA

Prawdziwy guru brytyjskiej sceny dubowej. W wieku 13 lat przybył do Londynu z Gujany i początkowo pracował jako techniczny. W 1979 założył w Londynie studio Ariwa i zaledwie trzy lata później nagrał swój debiutancki album, który zapoczątkował słynną serię „Dub Me Crazy”. Zasłynął współpracą z Massive Attack, która zaowocowała legendarnym albumem „No Protection”. Współpracował również m.in. z Jamiroquai, Rancid i Depeche Mode oraz czołówką sceny tanecznej (The Orb, The KLF, Miss Kittin) oraz z polskim zespołem Izrael, który właśnie w Ariwie nagrał swój najbardziej eksperymentalny album „1991”. We Wrocławiu zagra ze swoim synem, producentem Joe Ariwą.

POSITIVE THURSDAYS IN DUB

Założony przez dziennikarza muzycznego i DJa Rafała Konerta projekt muzyczny, którego głównym założeniem jest pokazanie spektrum muzyki reggae i dub, przedstawianego w bardzo unikalny sposób. Ich występy to swoista lekcja historii jamajskiej muzyki. Podczas setów grupy usłyszeć można zarówno utwory ze złotej ery reggae jak również nowe produkcje dubowych wyjadaczy, a wszystko to przy akompaniamencie żywych instrumentów, które w połączeniu ze specjalnie wyselekcjonowanymi samplami i wizualizacjami idealnie dopelnija całości. Na swoim koncie mają szereg zagranych i zorganizowanych imprez, koncertowali również poza granicami kraju, pojawiając się m.in. w Szkocji i Bułgarii. 2015 rok okazał się przełomowy i projekt z DJskiego live actu przerodził się w pełnoprawny zespół. W 2017 Positive Thursdays in DUB zostali bohaterami wyjątkowego dokumentu muzycznego „Rockin’ in Babylon”, dokumentującego m.in. ich sesję nagraniową z Ghetto Priestem.

RADIKAL GURU & RADIKAL HORNS

Radikal Guru, czyli Mateusz Miller, to pochodzący z Kwidzyna producent oraz DJ, będący obecnie najbardziej rozpoznawalnym współczesnym polskim twórcą dubu na międzynarodowej scenie. Inspiruje się roots reggae, brytyjskim dubem oraz muzyką Dalekiego Wschodu, dzięki czemu zjednał sobie słuchaczy wywodzących się z bardzo rożnych kręgów muzycznych. Ma na koncie trzy świetne albumy studyjne oraz kilkanaście winylowych singli. W ciągu ostatnich lat jego niezwykle energiczne występy na żywo można było usłyszeć na trasach koncertowych w całej Europie oraz w tak odległych krajach jak USA, Meksyk, RPA, Australia czy Nowa Zelandia. Najnowszy projekt Millera, czyli Radikal Guru Live Dub & Radikal Horns, opiera się przede wszystkim na żywych instrumentach, dubowych mixach na żywo i nowych, niespodziewanych aranżacjach autorskich utworów. Wraz z Mateuszem na scenie pojawi się trzyosobowa sekcja dęta.

ROOTS REVIVAL SOUND SYSTEM

Wielozadaniowy projekt mający na cel promowanie kultury sound systemowej w Polsce i poza krajem. Zanim JSM i Jaszol zaczęli wspólnie budować rootsowy sound system w 2006 roku, udzielali się przez kilka latach w innych projektach, jak Tisztelet, Duby Smalone Allstars i Reggaestacja. Po sesjach Roots Revival można spodziewać się tego, co w muzyce roots & culture najlepsze: mnóstwo basu, trochę ciszy między numerami, toasting na wersjach, unikalna selekcja i przede wszystkim dubplates. Mają na swoim koncie nagrania dla niemieckiego labelu Debtera, a ich ekskluzywne dubplates grane są przez sound systemy na całym świecie, łącznie z takimi tuzami jak Iration Steppas. Independent Dub Day będzie okazją do świętowania dziesięciolecia projektu!

VIBRONICS & MADU MESSENGER

Vibronics to legenda sceny dubowej w Wielkiej Brytanii. Kierowany przez Steve’a Vibronicsa kolektyw od ponad dwudziestu lat eksploruje wszechświat niskich częstotliwości, wciąż wyznaczając trendy i raz po raz zaskakując swoją wierną publiczność. Nagrali miliardy singli i remiksów, wydali mnóstwo świetnych albumów, nagranych zarówno dla wytwórni Zion Train - Universal Egg (m.in. świetny „Dubliftment”), jak i własnego, otoczonego kultem labelu Scoops. Lista wykonawców, z którymi współpracowali Vibronics jest bardzo długa - są na niej legendy sceny roots, reggae i dub - Zion Train, Iration Steppas, Macka B, Ranking Joe, Brain Damage, High Tone, Big Youth, a także nowojorska grupa Fun Lovin’ Criminals. Od lat 90. nieustannie występują na całym świecie, grając koncerty i sety didżejskie.

VIOLINBWOY

Jest jednym z najbardziej utalentowanych muzyków i producentów na dubowej scenie w Polsce. Gry na skrzypcach nauczył się w polskiej szkole muzycznej, muzycznej produkcji - w Wielkiej Brytanii, ale najważniejszą szkołą okazały się dla niego legendarne sesje University of Dub. Połączenie instrumentów smyczkowych z głębokim, tłustym dubem okazało się strzałem w dziesiątkę. Fantastyczne dubplates Violinbwoya grają największe europejskie soundsystemy (m.in. Jah Shaka i King Earthquake). W 2014 artysta został oficjalnym członkiem włoskiego soundsystemu Imperial Sound Army, założonego przez wokalistę Alpha & Omega – Dana I. Aktualnie szykuje się do wydania debiutanckiego albumu, który ukaże się jesienią nakładem Moonshine Recordings.

Wroclaw will be shaken by the mighty bass during Independent Dub Day 2017! The 3rd and the 4th of November will bring under the roof of the Wrocław Congress Center, dub in all forms, even the most unexpected.

The festival will present joined forces of Alpha Steppa and Alpha & Omega – Dub Dynasty; Vibronics - the legendary Leicester based collective which for over 20 years has been shaking the UK Dub scene. The Bush Chemists, one of the most important UK Dub crews, Aba Shanti-I - godfather of UK Dub; Bristol based Dubkasm; Adrian Sherwood and guru of UK Dub scene Mad Professor! The Polish scene will be represented by veterans of Roots Revival Sound System and well acclaimed on the international scene Radikal Guru, who will perform with live horns section – Radikal Horns; by a highly talented producer Violinbwoy and Wroclaw based project Positive Thursdays in DUB! The sound system will be supported by joined forces of Dubseed Sound System and Roots Revival Sound System!

Independent Dub Day is the biggest indoor dub music festival in this part of Europe and this year will be extended to 48 hours, during which the legends of the European dub scene will play alongside their younger, fellow artists. Dub is one of the most important and one of the most open, fascinating genres of experimental music, which is famous for breaking the norms. Independent Dub Day is the ultimate proof that dub is a phenomenon that deserves a full-scale indoor music festival. This event is really ‘radical’, in the best sense of the word!

At the festival, guests will be able to regenerate their strength with various food stalls and refresh with the beer produced by the best local breweries. Stands with vinyl records will remind you of the pioneering period in dub music, when records were earning a unique status upon release. More surprises to be continued throughout the festival.

ABA SHANTI-I (UK)

The legendary precursor of roots and dub music in the UK. As a teenager he worked with the famous Jah Tubby's Sound System under the pseudonym Jasmin Joe. He debuted in 1990 with his The Mighty Aba Shanti-I Sound System and just three years later DJ Magazine recognized him as the best DJ in the world. He is the owner of Falasha Records, where he has been producing his music for years with his brothers and band The Shanti-Ites. His sets are a piercing human body bass, unique vibration, feeling and spiritual mysticism. Aba Shanti-I is a permanent resident of the iconic University of Dub sessions that attract dub fans from around the world as well as other big dub events in the UK. In 2010 he was one of the lecturers at Red Bull Music Academy.

ADRIAN SHERWOOD (UK)

Master of mixing desk, king of producers and living legend of reggae and dub music. He is famous for his unparalleled ability to mix live music. He first steps was a spinning records as a teenager in the 70s. He quickly discovered Jamaican music for himself, and his master and patron was Prince Far I himself. At the turn of 70s and 80s, he participated in the punk revolution doing gigs with The Clash. At the same time he founded his own today's iconic On-U Sound label. As a producer, he has collaborated with artists presenting various styles and genres such as Ministry, Primal Scream, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Simply Red, Sinead O'Connor, Einstürzende Neubauten and Coldcut to name just a few. His most famous release is an album "Never Trust A Hippie", recorded for Peter Gabriel label Real World Records.

THE BUSH CHEMISTS
(CHAZBO, CULTURE FREEMAN, DOUGIE CONSCIOUS) (UK)

One of the most important dub formations in the UK, which was formed in 1993 by Doug Wardrop (Dougie Conscious), Paul Davey (Chazbo) and vocalist Culture Freeman as a side project of band Centry. They debuted a year later with the album “Dubs from Zion Valley” recorded with Jonah Dan, but their true fame earned their 1996 releases “Dub Outernational” and “Light Up Your Spliff”, which quickly became a classic of the genre. They collaborated with leading British reggae singers (Kenny Knots, King General, Pablo Gad). They are famous for their sophisticated mixing of traditional reggae with deep digital dub, as well as musical imagination and openness to other music genres. Their dub version of the "Star Wars" theme has forever subscribed to the history of this music.

DUB DYNASTY (UK)

A unique, family project that young and very talented producer Alpha Steppa co-founded with his father, John Sprosen and his aunt Christine Woodbridge, better known as Alpha & Omega, a duo from 1980’s who co-created the British dub scene. Dub Dynasty's music is a deadly mix of huge experience and fresh blood. John and Christine have grown up from the traditions represented by Jamaican classics – King Tubby, Augustus Pablo and Lee "Scratch" Perry. Alpha Steppa is a representative of the generation that grew up in the digital world. Together they have released three excellent, rooted albums - "Unrelenting Force", "Thundering Mantis" and "Holy Cow".

DUBKASM (UK)

Dubkasm is one of the most important representatives of the international Roots & Dub movement. Their signature are heavy bass lines, live instruments and great vocals. DJ Stryda and Digistep formed Dubkasm in 1994 and made a huge impact on the development of British digital dub sound. For more than twenty years, they have been collaborating with the best sound systems around the world, performing regularly at major music festivals and clubs. They are famous for their recordings such as legendary “Warrior”, 7” killer "From the Foundation" and the hit tune "Victory" as well as from perfect vocal selection (Solo Banton, Afrikan Simba and Rudy Lee).

MAD PROFESSOR & JOE ARIWA (UK)

A true guru of British dub scene. He come to London at the age of 13 from Guiana and initially worked as a technician. In 1979 he founded Ariwa studio in London and just three years later he recorded his debut album, which kicked off famous "Dub Me Crazy" series. Famed for his collaboration with Massive Attack, which resulted in the legendary album "No Protection". He also work with artists such as Jamiroquai, Rancid and Depeche Mode and top of the electronic dance music scene like The Orb, The KLF, Miss Kittin also he work with polish band Izrael, which has recorded their most experimental “1991” album in Ariwa Studio. On Independent Dub Day he play with his son and producer Joe Ariwa.

POSITIVE THURSDAYS IN DUB (PL)

Founded by music journalist and DJ - Rafał Konert, this musical project, whose main goal is to show variety of reggae and dub music which they presented in a very unique way. Their performances are sophisticated lesson of history of Jamaican music. During their shows you can hear both reggae from golden era as well as new productions of dub masters, all with the accompaniment of live instruments, which combined with specially selected samples and visualizations that perfectly complement the whole picture. They have played and organized many events, also performed outside the country, appearing in Scotland and Bulgaria. 2015 turned out to be a breakthrough, and the live DJ act turned into a full band. In 2017 Positive Thursdays in DUB have release unique musical document "Rockin 'in Babylon" which show their recording session and cooperation with Ghetto Priest.

RADIKAL GURU & RADIKAL HORNS (PL)

Radikal Guru or Mateusz Miller, is a producer and DJ from Kwidzyn, Poland which is currently the most recognizable contemporary Polish dub artist on the international music scene. Inspired by roots reggae, British dub and Far East music, he has brought together listeners from different musical circles. He has three well received studio albums and a dozens of vinyl singles. Over the past years, his live performances have been extremely well receive on live tours across Europe and such distant countries as USA, Mexico, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. His latest project Radikal Guru Live Dub & Radikal Horns' is based on live instruments, live dub mixes, and new, unexpected arrangements of his well known tunes. Together with Mateusz brass section will appear on stage.

ROOTS REVIVAL (PL)

It’s a very versatile project focused on promoting soundsystem culture in Poland and all over the world. Before Jaszol & JSM Rootskontrolla got together and decided to build powerful roots Sound System they played separately for couple of years in Tisztelet, Duby Smalone and Reggaestacja. During their sessions they promote roots & culture dubwise reggae music. You can expect loads of bass, some silence in between tunes and plenty of special exclusive dubplates. They have recorded for German based label Debter, and their exclusive dubplates are played by sound systems around the world, including those such as Iration Steppas. Independent Dub Day will be the occasion to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the project!

VIBRONICS & MADU MESSENGER (UK)

Vibronics is a legend of dub scene in the UK. Directed by Steve Vibronics, project has been exploring the low-frequency universe for more than twenty years, still setting the trend and once again surmising it’s loyal audience. Vibronics recorded tons of singles and remixes, released many great albums, recorded both for Zion Train label Universal Egg (including the great "Dubliftment") and their own iconic Scoops label. The list of performers with whom Vibronics has collaborated is very long - there are legends of roots reggae and dub - Zion Train, Iration Steppas, Macka B, Ranking Joe, Brain Damage, High Tone, Big Youth and New York based - Fun Lovin' Criminals. Since the 1990’s, they have been performing around the world playing live sessions as well as DJ set’s.

VIOLINBWOY (PL)

He is one of the most talented musicians and producers on polish dub scene. He learn to play violin in the Polish music school and music production he learn in the United Kingdom, but the most important school for him was the legendary University of Dub sessions. Combination of string instruments with deep dub was a hit. Fantastic dubplates of Violinbwoy are played by the biggest European sound systems including Jah Shaka and King Earthquake. In 2014, he became an official member of the Italian sound system Imperial Sound Army, founded by singer of Alpha & Omega - Dan I. He is currently preparing to release his debut album, which will be released this autumn by Moonshine Recordings.
